Measurable QC Verification Method
We disclose only quality measurements Pipali can execute and verify at origin. From mechanical screen size separation to moisture calibration and pre-shipment sensory cupping.
Screen Sizing & Uniformity
Mechanical size grading at dry mill on Screen 18 (7.14mm) and Screen 16. Minimum 85% retention on target screen to guarantee uniform roasting heat transfer.
Moisture & Water Activity
Measured using calibrated capacitance moisture meters. Maintained strictly between 11.5% and 12.5% max with water activity < 0.65 aw to prevent mold and moisture aging.
Defect Limits (SGM Standards)
Evaluated on 300g representative sample per Indonesian SNI export standards. Grade 1 AP-1 capped at maximum 11 equivalent defect points.
Typical Specification Sheet: Dampit Robusta Grade 1
| Parameter | Typical Value | Test Method | Contractual Tolerance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Target Screen Size | Screen 18 (7.14mm) | Mechanical perforated sieve shaker | ≥ 85% retention on Screen 18 |
| Moisture Content | 11.8% – 12.2% | Calibrated capacitance moisture meter | Max 12.5% at vessel departure |
| Total Physical Defects (300g) | ≤ 11 defect points | Manual grading on representative sample | Max 11 (Grade 1 AP-1) |
| Cup Sensory Profile | Dense crema, dark cocoa, roasted hazelnut | Robusta sensory cupping protocol (WCR/SCA) | Clean cup, free of phenolic or earthy taints |
Verification Protocol: Offer Sample → PSS → Port Arrival
To completely eradicate sample drift, Pipali enforces a 3-tier verification sequence before container departure:
Initial representative sample sent to the roastery to calibrate roast profiles and evaluate cup characteristics.
Drawn directly from the bagged lot at origin dry mill. Buyer PSS approval contractually binds the delivery.
Destination inspection comparing unloaded coffee against sealed counter-samples preserved at origin dry mill.
